Making Rights Real along with Fa’side Women and Girls Group (FWGG) and the Scottish Women’s Budget Group (SWBG) today launched an important report that highlights the human rights impact of the cost of living crisis for women and girls in East Lothian.

Scottish Human Rights Bill for Scotland: civil society organisations call on MSPs to voice their support - Making Rights Real

Making Rights Real joined with over 50 organisations have signed an open letter addressed to the First Minister – ahead of the parliamentary debate on the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and following the passing of the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill – warning that plans for the new legislation for a Scottish Human Rights Bill must not be watered down.

A People's Response to a Human Rights Bill in Scotland

On 14 September, MRR and the Human Rights Consortium Scotland (HRCS) co-hosted a virtual gathering for people we are working alongside to express their views on the new Human Rights Bill.  The conversation focused on rights and duties, access to justice, accountability, and implementation.  Mhairi Snowden (HRCS) led presentations on each topic above that were followed by detailed group discussions.

Making Rights Real in Scotland Scoping Study - Making Rights Real

September 2021

The Baring Foundation funded scoping work to establish Making Rights Real. Led by Clare MacGillivray during 2020, the scoping work was supported by a Scottish Advisory Group including Participation and the Practice of Rights, community activists, the Scottish Human Rights Commission, Scottish Community Development Centre, University of Glasgow, Amnesty International, the Human Rights Consortium Scotland and the ALLIANCE.
